Juventus ace Cristiano Ronaldo is the player of the year, winner of the 2019 Globe soccer award in Dubai. Portuguese was preferred to other candidates: Lionel Messi, Virgil van Dijk and Mohamed Salah. "It is a great honor, I hope to be here again next year. I thank those who voted for me and wish everyone a happy new year." The ceremony also saw his teammate Mjralem Pjanic rewarding him with a lifetime achievement award.
