Coordinated care for mothers and newborns at Mälar Hospital

12/10/2019, 5:07:34 PM

Mothers and children who need care after childbirth can now live in the same room at Mälar Hospital.

The benefits are better care for both children and mothers when the women's and neonatal ward come together around the patient instead of being cared for in different rooms.

The so-called social care rooms are also available for premature babies to have with their parents.

The advantages include being able to care for skin against skin, which promotes attachment, milk production and that it provides heat. It also has great benefits for the child's growth while reducing the stress of the child.
