On December 5, 1909, the so-called second duel at the Black River took place. This time poets Maximilian Voloshin and Nikolai Gumilyov turned out to be on opposite sides of the barrier. The cause of the conflict of writers was a woman - a young poetess Elizabeth Dmitrieva. Fortunately, everything ended bloodlessly: Gumilyov missed, and Voloshin shot into the air. The fame of this fight spread throughout St. Petersburg, mocking articles appeared in the newspapers, and the poets themselves became objects of parodies. Thus ended the era of duels, the fashion of which claimed many lives. Answer a few of our questions and see how you could be a duelist.
