Floods threaten the theater season in Venice

The severe floods in Venice last week threaten the theater season at the city's lively Teatro La Fenice. The Opera House dates from the end of the 18th century, but it is not the building itself, but parts of the technical equipment have been damaged. Now you work feverishly to replace what has been damaged.

Pietro Tessarin is the press officer at Teatro La Fenice, and he tells us that opera rehearsals are currently being performed at other theaters.

- We have no plan B. If that doesn't work then we have to pay back the audience tickets and keep the theater closed for about a week, which would mean that the premiere and the following performances may be canceled, he says.
