The Swedish Board of Agriculture decided that all chickens on a farm in Kronoberg should be killed after being infected with salmonella.

It was after a routine sampling at the end of September this year that the infection was found, writes the newspaper Smålandsposten.

The entire chicken herd of 15,000 laying hens were sacrificed by gasification with carbon dioxide following a decision by the Swedish Board of Agriculture.

The chicken barn will be decontaminated and sampling will be done before new egg production can start in the chicken barn.
