It is known that the United States named the raid against the Islamic state (IS) invasion Abu Bakr al-Bagadi after the name of the American victim of IS.
White House National Security Adviser Robert O'Brien said in an NBC interview today (November 2008) that he named the operation to refer to al-Bagadi and his followers who were cruel to Muller and other Americans.
Mueller, a women's rights activist, was held hostage for 18 months after she was kidnapped by IS while working for an international aid organization to help Syrian refugees.
Those who escaped with Muller have stated that she who believes in Christianity has refused to convert to Islam and has suffered repeated sexual assaults.
The IS claimed that Muller died during the Allied air raid in February 2015, but the U.S. only confirmed that he died without revealing the cause of the death.
"We finally judged three Americans who had beheaded three," O'Brien said. "We believe it is important for people to know."
