During the weekend, the Swedish Championships in cross-country runs the Umeå bar for the first time in almost 40 years. Something that the competition manager Hans Nilsson from IFK Umeå looks forward to. - The last time it was in Umeå was in 1981 and before its 1970 so it was high time to get the competition here. It feels like a kick to the whole club.

On Friday, the meadows are being prepared for the 400 runners who, during the weekend, run the SM in cross country. According to the competition leader, one expects a festive weekend.

- We have about 400 participants, of which about 75 are from Umeå. We also hope for a lot of audience, says Hans Nilsson.

The course stretches for two kilometers, but the longest run is 10,000 meters.

- Those who run the longest, then, make five turns. We have participants between 15 and 75 years, so all participants are divided into different classes.
