Kim Amb's participation in the javelin final was uncertain before the final round. The second throw of 82.98 was just over a meter behind the final limit of 84 meters. But in the last round he struck, 84.85 and the final ticket was booked. "The form is still there as he has shown in the upload to this championship," SVT expert Kajsa Bergqvist said after the throw.

Kim Amb was rated fifteen ahead of today's javelin qualification. The final limit was set at 84 meters and in the first group, where Amb was not present, many fine lengths were performed and it was clear that a really good throw would be required to reach the final. Amb's first throw went outside the throwing sector, his second was better and gave 82.98. A length that, depending on other results, could have taken the Swede to the final.

"Hopefully, the final throw can take him to the finals and take him to the finals with good confidence," SVT expert Kajsa Bergqvist said before the final throw.

And good self-confidence will probably take Amb with him, 84.85 in the last attempt, just over a meter over the qualifying limit. The Swede gave away a lot of noise after the super throw and looked relieved after booking a place in the final.

Best in the qualifying round was reigning world champion Johannes Vetter who struck with 89.35. Amb's throw was the fourth longest in the qualifier.
