The United States intends to help prevent conflict in the Arctic, as well as counter strategic positioning in the region. This was told by a representative of the US Department of Energy Drew Horn.

“We have a long history of relations and friendship in the field of energy, in science, and development issues with Greenland and Denmark,” TASS quoted him as saying.

Gorn noted that representatives of the Arctic Council are “open to positive cooperation in the Arctic and are working to prevent conflict and conflict potential in the region.”

Earlier, Swedish Foreign Minister Margot Wallström criticized the US stance on the Arctic Council, calling it dangerous and regrettable.

The diplomat expressed concern about the actions of the United States, which led to the fact that the Arctic Council in May for the first time did not adopt a joint declaration on climate.
