Belgian David Goffin, ranked 15th in the world, became a mouthful for Roger Federer who easily won, 6-2, 6-2, 6-0 in the fourth round. The 38-year-old phenomenon is now the first men's player to reach the quarterfinals, where he is either set against Grigor Dimitrov, Bulgaria, or Australian Alex de Minaur, whose match is also played on Sunday.

Former Swedish big player Thomas Johansson was barely satisfied with his adept Goffin who made a number of simple mistakes and allowed Federer to dominate the match. In the last set, Goffin looked abandoned.

- I had a good feeling today that I had earlier in the tournament. I have to say that David didn't have his best day and he had to fight a little bit, Federer tells ESPN.

- I am very satisfied with my level, Federer notes.

It is the 56th time Federer is in the quarterfinals of a grand slam tournament and the 13th time he is among the last eight in the US Open.

The Swiss has won the US Open five times.
