FC Groningen recorded the ninth summer reinforcement on Sunday. Danish youth international Nicklas Strunck Jakobsen comes over from FC Nordsjaelland and signs for four years.
The nineteen-year-old right back, who can also play in midfield, played in various Danish youth teams and played on behalf of Nordsjaelland in the Europa League, among others.
"His name has been on our scouting reports since September 2016. Until now it was not always feasible to get Nicklas to Groningen," says technical director Mark-Jan Fledderus of FC Groningen.
"We have been following him all the time and have been in constant contact with him and his management. Now that an opening has taken place, we have struck immediately. We are happy that we have managed to bind him for four years."
Earlier, Groningen had Azor Matusiwa (Ajax), Mo El Hankouri (Feyenoord), Gabriel Gudmundsson (Halmstad), Sam Schreck (Bayer Leverkusen), Bart van Hintum (Heracles Almelo), Charlison Benschop (FC Ingolstadt), Ramon Pascal Lundqvist (NAC Breda) ) and Marco van Duin (NEC). Only FC Emmen was more active in the Eredivisie.
In the second Eredivisie round, FC Groningen lost 1-3 against FC Twente on Saturday in a match that had a bizarre first half. The team of coach Danny Buis finished with nine men and has three points after two games.
