Maria Zakharova, the official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry, said that there is information that the US intelligence services are establishing contacts with smugglers in Venezuela in order to learn the routes of cross-border crossings.

“By the way, a very interesting fact has recently emerged that US intelligence agencies are working to establish contacts - attention - with smugglers, drug dealers and people who are involved in drug traffic in order to provide them with information about illegal cross-border crossings,” Zakharova said at a briefing.

In late February, Zakharova said that the United States is going to hand over to the opposition of Venezuela a batch of weapons. According to the Russian ministry, US companies and their NATO allies "are working on the issue of acquiring a large batch of weapons in one of the Eastern European countries" for subsequent transfer to Venezuelan opposition forces.

Zakharova noted that the delivery of cargo to Venezuela is planned to take place in early March in several batches through the territory of a neighboring country.
