The government will soon decide whether to adjust the current'social distancing' (Seoul Metropolitan Area Phase 2.5, Non-Metropolitan Area Phase 2), which is scheduled to end at the end of this month.

Sohn Young-rae, head of the Social Strategy Division at the Central Accident Recovery Headquarters (Jung Soo-bon), said at a regular briefing held today (24th) at the Seoul Government Complex, "I will make a decision next week" regarding future distancing adjustment plans.

In order to prevent the re-proliferation of Corona 19, the government has extended and applied quarantine measures, including the current steps of distancing and prohibiting private gatherings of 5 or more people nationwide, until the 31st of this month.

Sohn said, "The current distancing phase, etc., is scheduled for next weekend, that is, until Sunday. After that, we will begin discussions on the adjustment of the (quarantine) measures taken into account until the Lunar New Year holidays from next week."

He explained, "At the moment, the opinions of local governments and related ministries, especially related ministries, have been listening to the opinions of related associations and organizations, small self-employed persons and small business owners, and discussions between central and local governments have begun."

He added, "Along with these discussions, we will make decisions during next week while reviewing the Life Prevention Committee, including experts," he added. "We plan to make decisions before next weekend, but have not yet been confirmed."
