Dimitri Stuzhuk

was famous, muscular and too young to fear the coronavirus.

In his posts on

Instagram

, this Ukrainian 'influencer' limited himself to enjoying life without protecting himself from contagion and spreading his pastoral 'fitness'.

He did not believe in the coronavirus.

Until this week, he began to publish messages that worried his million followers: he had contracted coronavirus during a short vacation in

Turkey

, and had difficulty breathing.

"I have coronavirus. Today, after returning home (...) I want to share how I got sick and warn everyone: I also thought there was no Covid, until I got sick. Covid-19 is not ephemeral!", says his last post on Instagram, three days ago.

His ex-wife, also Instagramer

Sofía Stuzhuk

, reported his death on Friday.

The symptoms started on the second day of his trip to Turkey.

"I woke up in the middle of the night because

my throat was swollen and I was having trouble breathing

. At the same time, my stomach hurt a bit," said Stuzhuk, 33.

"The next day the cough started to appear, but there was no fever. There were also no particular symptoms of the disease, so I

thought it could be consequences of doing sports, the change in climate and nutrition

."

He went ahead with his plans, exposing the rest to contagion.

Upon returning to Ukraine, he tested positive for COVID and was recommended to hospital.

"The hospital is completely full of people, some are in the corridor," he

explained.

"No food, no toilet paper, no cutlery! No one warned me about this" complained the blogger, who boasted of business on his social networks.

Stuzhuk continued his oxygen treatment at home.

But he was taken back to the hospital after getting worse.

He was "serious" and "unconscious,"

explained his ex-wife, who now fondly remembers him on social media.

"We didn't have a good relationship. There were many problems. But this relationship gave us so much," wrote Sofia Stuzhuk.

"We have lived and experienced a lot with you. You were there in pain and joy. I will be grateful to you for the rest of my life for our

three beautiful children,

" she added.

They had parted ways only six months ago.

"Dima [Dimitri] had problems with his cardiovascular system ... His heart couldn't handle all of this," Sofia posted on her Instagram account.

Previously, she said she tried to help Dimitri and spoke to him about taking care of his health, but he did not heed her advice.

"How bitter it is for me that you have not listened to me! But we have always respected the choices of others," Sofia Stuzhuk said according to the Russian publication 'StarHit'.

The death of Stuzhuk has served to raise awareness of the dangers of the virus, which has a high incidence in the country of 41 million inhabitants.

According to the Sputnik agency, these days Ukraine detects

around 6,000 coronavirus infections every 24 hours

, the maximum in the country since the pandemic began, according to the National Security and Defense Council.

To date, 298,872 cases have been confirmed, including 167,888 active and 5,607 deaths, according to the epidemic monitoring system.

The official statistics of covid-19 in Ukraine do not reflect the epidemiological situation in the separatist territories not controlled by the Government.

Former Ukrainian President

Petro Poroshenko himself

(in power between 2014 and 2019) has suffered from this disease.

Poroshenko left the hospital where he was admitted with pneumonia on the 12th.

The number of patients admitted with covid-19 in Ukraine increased last month by 34%
