Heavy rain of as much as 500mm poured over the southern region for two days, and the Seomjin River flooded and other damage occurred. An ossuary in Gwangju was also flooded, causing bereaved families to suffer.

heavy rain in the southern region caused damage in various places.

The Hwagae Marketplace in Hadong, Gyeongnam, along the Seomjin River, was completely submerged in 32 years, and about 100 meters of the Seomjin River embankment near Geumgok Bridge in Namwon, Jeollabuk-do collapsed, and hundreds of residents were evacuated.

As the Yongdam Dam in Jinan, Jeollabuk-do began discharging in the morning of yesterday (8th), three villages in Yeongdong-gun, Chungbuk, were flooded, causing some 300 residents to evacuate.

At around 2 pm yesterday, when a nursing hospital in Naju, Jeollanam-do was isolated due to heavy rain, firefighters rescued thirty ones, including the elderly and employees with limited mobility.

Some sections of the Gwangju Line and Jeolla Line, which were suspended due to flooding of some sections and the rise of the iron bridge level, resumed operation from this morning.

The Ministry of Public Administration and Security said that since the 1st, 30 people have died, 12 have been missing, and 8 have been injured in the heavy rain.
