Three ships that were working on the upper stream of the Uiam Dam in Chuncheon, which were opening floodgates under heavy rain, sank, one was killed and five were missing. Many people don't understand why this work order was given yesterday at the top of the open dam gate, where the current is faster. As the day dawned, the search was resumed.

Reporter Jang Hoon-kyung reports.

Near the floodgates of the Uiam Dam in the Bukhan River, the ship is turned upside down in the rain and swept by the rapids.

[Sightseeing: There's someone there, what should I do?] The

boat is sucked into the dam waterway in an instant.

[Sightseeing: I saw the yellow boat flipping over and I saw our staff watching the blue boat drifting the same way.] The

accident was yesterday (6th) at about 11:06 am.

In order to prevent the artificial aquatic islands installed in Uiam Lake in Chuncheon from drifting into the rapids, three police boats, Chuncheon City Hall administrative boats and three private boats were in operation.

The police estimate that all three ships were overturned when the ship, which was working on the strap in the rapids, caught the wire installed at the site.

Eight people were on these ships.

60-year-old Ahn, who was on the executive ship, managed to escape shortly after the accident, but the other seven were swept down.

Under the Chunseong Bridge, 13km downstream of the accident site, Kwak Mo, a 69-year-old, was rescued and sent to the hospital. After 2 hours of the accident, Mr. Mo, 69, was found dead near the Nami Island Pier 20km downstream.

Five missing persons have yet to be found.

The police and the fire department, which ended the search at 9 o'clock last night, are planning to conduct a search operation by injecting about 1,000 people in the 50km section of the Bukhan River from this morning.
