Since 2011, Seoul Metropolitan Government has been making earthquake-resistant reinforcement work to make the subway resistant to earthquakes. The audit revealed that the contractor used materials with poor performance even though it was a large-scale business with a tax of 300 billion won.

This is an exclusive report by reporter Lim Tae-woo.

is a reinforced concrete pillar inside Seolleung Station of Seoul Subway Line 2.

Seismic reinforcement is enclosed at the top and bottom of the pillar, respectively.

The pillar supports the pillars from sinking even after the impact of the 6·3 earthquake, but in the original design,'steel', which is made of carved iron, is used.

However, in the actual construction, the fact that'special cast iron', which is produced in a casting form and has different ingredients, was used in the audit by Seoul Metropolitan Government.

The city of Seoul believes that this special cast iron is less suitable for seismic construction than steel.

It means that the elongation rate, which is the rate at which the iron does not break, increases, does not meet the design standards.

This material was used for seismic reinforcement of Seolleung Station and Samsung Station between 2016 and 2018.

In addition to the pillars, under-elongation materials were constructed not only in the tunnel section, but were found to be used in 167 places only on Subway Line 2.

In addition, cases of using materials with poor flame-retardant performance and wasting budget due to excessive construction were also caught, and the Seoul Metropolitan Government demanded censure from 20 employees of the Seoul Transportation Corporation.

The Seoul Metropolitan Government and the Seoul Transportation Corporation have requested construction companies to rebuild their products in relation to serious violations such as inappropriate use of materials, but the companies are objecting to this.

[Contractors parties: (material change) if there was some insufficient parts administratively, Korea eda this to Concrete Institute or of the Earthquake Engineering (Material itself is a problem that) performance verification tests'm preparing these things]

Seoul side and Contractors Seismic reinforcement projects for citizens' safety seem to be inevitable because they are poised to engage in legal workshops.
