Twitch asked the US military to stop a recruitment campaign on the platform in the form of a fake quiz. Followers of the channel created on the streaming portal by military officials saw a link appear allowing them to participate in a draw, reports The Nation . In game, a high-end controller for the Xbox, worth nearly 200 dollars (175 euros).

The message automatically appearing in a dialog box did not, however, refer to registration for any competition. By clicking, users were redirected to a US Army recruiting form with no other reference to the prizes to be won or a draw.

The device stopped by Twitch

The process has been controversial, especially because of the minimum age to use Twitch set at 13 years. Faced with the strong reactions of its users, Twitch put an end to this recruitment system of the US Army. "Our conditions of use stipulate that advertisements must respect the laws in force," said a spokesperson for the company quoted by Kotaku .

Streamers and video game creators also came forward, reports The Verge . They believed that any channel other than that of the United States military would have been seriously worried if it had used such a system.
