Mozilla to launch its own VPN - Geeko

Firefox’s parent company Mozilla plans to launch its own VPN service. A project developed in complete independence from the web browser. Mozilla VPN can therefore be used by any Internet user without having to install Firefox, unlike the current Firefox Private Network extension which is only available on the Fox Web browser.

The development of a VPN made in Mozilla is far from a surprise. In recent years, the non-profit organization has partly built its communication and reputation on the attention it paid to protecting the privacy of its users. Developing a VPN is just the next step.

Rapid deployment

Currently, Mozilla's Virtual Private Network is still in the testing phase. Its release is scheduled for a few weeks, without specific date, in the United States. It will be offered in more countries by the end of the year, without further details.

Mozilla's VPN will be billed at the same price as during its beta phase, which is $ 4.99 a month. A single subscription will protect up to 5 Windows, Android, iOS and Chromebook devices. It will also land on macOS and Linus at a later date. The rate applied by Mozilla may seem much higher than those offered by other customers already well established, but we can expect that, like them, Mozilla offers big promotions as part of a multi-year subscription.
