Among 12 krill oil products that are popular in home shopping and online shopping malls, antioxidants and extractant components were detected in excess of the standard.

The Ministry of Food and Drug Safety said that after collecting and inspecting 41 types of krill oil products on the market, 12 products were found to be unsuitable and collected in full.

In 5 out of 12 products, ethoxyquin, an antioxidant used in fisheries feed, exceeded the standard of 0.2 mg/kg and was detected from 0.5 to 2.5 mg.

In the remaining seven products, substances that could not be used as extraction solvents such as ethyl acetate or isopropyl alcohol were detected, or ingredients that could be used, such as hexane and acetone, but exceeded the standard values.
