On May 15, 1935, the Moscow Metro began work. On the opening day, the metro subway numbered 13 stations, and the total length of its routes was 11.2 km. The first trains consisted of four cars. The entire branch could be reached in 22 minutes. The emergence of a new mode of transport aroused great interest among Muscovites and guests of the capital: on the first day, 370 thousand passengers, including the top leadership of the USSR, used the Moscow metro.
