Instagram Lite already stored in the closet - Geeko

Instagram's “light” application made it possible to access the social network from your mobile through a simplified interface, requiring both less resources from the phone and less mobile data.

As Android Police notes, the Instagram Lite app has recently been removed from the Play Store. The site indicates that it is not a handling error but a choice of Google since users of the software have been informed that the application is no longer supported by Facebook.

Available only in a few markets, including Mexico, Peru and Kenya, the software was said to provide easier access to the platform for some users. Obviously, user feedback has not been very good since Facebook has decided to remove the software.

A possible return

According to Techcrunch, a new version of Instagram Lite could however see the light of day. There would be a real demand for lightened applications in functions, which function perfectly on modest terminals and do not require much storage space. Instagram Lite only occupied 0.5 MB of space on the smartphone's memory, compared to more than 30 MB for the full application. Some features, such as messaging, were not offered, however.
