The Ministry of Education announced on the 13th that it will provide 760 billion won to private kindergartens that are indefinitely closed in the aftermath of Corona 19 so that the kindergarten tuition fees will be returned to parents in March and April.

On the 17th of last month, the Ministry of Education launched a 'Kindergarten Management Temporary Support Project' with an additional budget of 32 billion won.

This is a project that provides 50% of the tuition deficit to private kindergartens who have returned their parents' contributions during the suspension period.

Since the kindergarten was scheduled to open on April 6 at the time of the new project, the Ministry of Education planned to support an additional 320 billion won and the National Metropolitan City and Provincial Office of Education to invest 32 billion won to provide a total of 64 billion won for a five-week suspension of business. .

Since then, elementary, middle, and high schools have started online, and kindergarten has decided to extend their suspension of business.

The metropolitan and provincial offices of education decided to increase the amount of support to 76 billion won by adding 12 billion won.

Private kindergartens who wish to receive support for this project must return or carry over all of the parental contributions from March to April, and pay the full amount of teacher labor costs.

Then, the education authorities will provide 50% of the 2 months' curriculum and after-school tuition deficit.

The upper limit for monthly support per infant is set to be 140,000 won for the curriculum and 24,000 won for the after-school courses.

This is the amount of the statutory increase limit (1.3% this year) applied to the average kindergarten tuition fee as of 2019.

Small-scale kindergartens are planning to provide additional support from the metropolitan and provincial offices of education according to local conditions.

The government offices of the metropolitan and provincial offices will support the return of parents' contributions to the national public kindergartens.

Deputy Prime Minister Yoo Eun-hye and Minister of Education said, "Thanks to the provincial and provincial offices of education and kindergartens who helped reduce the burden of tuition for parents even in difficult situations."
