It is said that the travel industry is struggling with the ticket brokerage fee to be paid to the multinational price comparison site 'Skyscanner'.

On the 1st, the industry revealed that travel agencies are asking for refunds or reductions in booking fees for February-March, mostly canceled due to Corona 19. Currently, Skyscan's relay fee is 1.7% of airfare.

The conflict between the travel agency and the ticket search platform occurred in the way the fees were settled.

Since the brokerage fee is paid first at the time of booking, tickets departing 3-4 months later are also included in this month's fee based on the date of sale. If the customer cancels more than a month later, the travel agent will pay a fee for the unsold ticket.
Normally, a travel agent could handle the fee issue with a penalty charged to the customer, but most of the tickets canceled by Corona19 were refunded in full without a penalty. The industry estimates that the amount of fees that travel agencies will have to reach will reach billions of won.

Skyscanner said that they understood the difficult situation sufficiently, and said, "We are preparing measures in a way that can help our largest partners." However, there is little room for the company to force a return or discount, so it is unclear whether the travel agency will be able to ease the burden.

Naver and Kakao, which are currently engaged in similar brokerage business, have taken measures such as exemption.
