A 29-year-old man, seriously wounded with a knife in a street in Saint-Etienne on Sunday evening, died on the spot as a result of his injuries, we learned Monday from police and judicial sources. Called shortly before 7 p.m., the firefighters and the Samu failed to save this man who had been stabbed in the chest, reaching a vital organ. When help arrived in the Valbenoite district, the victim was lying on the roadway and the perpetrator had fled.

The investigation is underway

"This man, originally from Benin, was not known to the justice system," David Charmatz, public prosecutor in Saint-Etienne, told AFP. No one had been arrested on Monday morning as part of the investigation entrusted to the judicial police.
