  • Interactive and regularly updated maps have made life easier for French people in confinement since March 16.
  • Most of them allow you to identify shops, services and food outlets near you.
  • Others are proving to be a real support to local producers.

Each card is sufficient for each need. Not easy to have an eye on the outside when you have to stay at home during this period of confinement. Which businesses or services remain open? Where to get food? How far can I go from my home without risking a fine?

So many questions that can be answered thanks to interactive maps available online and informing you according to your geolocation.

That of the radius of one kilometer

In order to avoid the spread of the coronavirus, travel outside the home is limited in time, but also in space, under penalty of receiving a ticket of 135 euros. Indeed, it is forbidden to exceed a radius of 1 km around your home. An online map lets you see what this space is for. Just enter your address and a Map shows you with a red circle your limit area. To avoid any geolocation error, fill in your postal code.

The one who says if it's open or closed

A second card called "it stays open" indicates throughout France the stores and services that remain open during confinement. It provides information for post offices, pharmacies, police stations and banks as well as bakeries and food stores. In green, it is open, in red, it is closed and in gray, it is not indicated. This card is participatory, internet users can report any change.

The one to eat better

Created by the Culinary College of France, this card compiles the points of sale direct to the public, the points of sale of dishes prepared by take out restaurateurs or even the points of sale online. A good way to support producers, restaurateurs and favor the short circuit for even fresher products.

A second card called “Producer Solidarity” also supports the sector by identifying the various points of sale in your sector and also connects producers and stores nearby. Shops that distribute local products and look for producers are indicated in red and producers who have surpluses or are looking for outlets are in green.

The unusual

One of the many online cards is aimed directly at people living in vans, motorhomes or vans. It allows them to find the best spot to park their vehicle and continue to live there serenely with water point, access to a shower and supplies.

Those of local initiatives

If the previous maps concerned the whole of France, some, more precise, were also created by different actors of territories, departments or cities. In the Basque Country, the Tourist Office has designed an interactive map listing the various initiatives of producers, restaurants, shops and businesses that remained active during this period.

In Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes, the Puy-de-Dôme Chamber of Agriculture connects consumers and local producers thanks to a map listing the different places of distribution of farm products in the department. Same approach in Hérault thanks to the interactive map created by the Chamber of farmers of the department and the Region.

In Lille, journalism students regularly update a Google map listing the businesses open in the city, but also those on the outskirts. Another card of the same kind makes it possible to locate the shops, pharmacies and tobacco-press offices open in Saint-Etienne in the Loire.
