The actress from Madrid stars, along with Germán Alcarazu, 'The double plus fifteen', a melodrama in which a mature woman spends a day with a young man

Bored with her routine life and a marriage in which passion was long lost, Ana enters a day in a sex chat. And he likes the idea so much that he decides to meet a boy. What this 50-year-old woman did not expect is that this person is Eric, a fifteen-year-old with whom she will live an unforgettable day, taking advantage of the fact that her husband and children are away. Maribel Verdú (Madrid, 1970) plays the protagonist of The Double Plus Fifteen , a melodrama directed by Mikel Rueda (Hide and Seek) in which the actress shares scenes with the young Germán Alcarazu.

Ana (Maribel Verdú) spends a whole day with Eric (Germán Alcarazu).

A priori, the subject seems very controversial. What would be the basis of this story for you? For me, what happens to Ana and Eric is that they are two people who feel lost, alone and seem transparent to those who are with them. And I think that, without telling anything about the end, that day they spend together is a parenthesis that will make Ana rethink her life. In a way, remember Wave of Crimes , in which your character also attracted the attention of a younger boy. At this step you will be well known by the new generations ... Well, that had another component to be a comedy (laughs). But yes, both share the characters of a mature woman and a boy. About young people, it is true that there is a generation that does not know me because I have not done series. Therefore, I can now pass quietly in front of a school for 17-year-old children who don't know me. Has this story led you to reflect on the vision that young people have about relationships and sex? There is everything. But it is true that they are more advanced than in my time. They say things that we have neither done, nor thought, nor anything at all. It all starts before.

Has this film changed your perception of such large age differences in a couple? It has not changed because I am very open minded. What I do believe is that this story can generate debate and reflection. But it seems to me a very delicate subject. Part of the work was done with Caminan , the short film on which this film is based. It has helped a lot that Mikel, the director, as well as Germán and I had done that short four years ago. Above all, because of the complicity between us. Come on, in The double plus fifteen we have rehearsed more than we shot. Four weeks of recording, we rehearsed three and recorded one. We enjoyed and, in the end, it was like a game. And we hardly saw the camera. In a time when everything goes so fast, it is appreciated to hear a director say "take your time to the scene." Do you look at others when you go out? For me, going outside is like going to the office. I look at everything and I spend all the time watching and riding my movies in my head with what I see.
