Over 100 confirmed patients came from Kyungnam Cheongdo Daenam Hospital. Most are patients and clinicians in the psychiatric ward, which is explained by the fact that they have been in close contact with each other for a long time in a well-ventilated, closed space.

So far, three out of five corona19-related deaths have been admitted to the closed hospital ward of Qingdao Daenam Hospital.

As more than 100 patients and medical staff have been confirmed and deaths have followed, doubts have been growing about the concentration of damage in a ward.

Health authorities said for the first time that they were looking at hospital facilities, repeating the existing view of the characteristics of closed wards.

[Eun-Kyung Chung / Head of Disease Control Division: I believe that these forms of close contact with the closed wards, lack of ventilation, and these areas had a great impact.]

It was noted that the virus spread as patients moved and interacted within the closed wards, and that the internally contaminated air was not properly discharged due to poor ventilation.

During the 2015 MERS outbreak, it was noted that hospital overcrowding and inadequate ventilation caused hospital infections.

In particular, since Qingdao University Hospital was opened in 1990, the possibility of facility aging is raised.

If there is a problem with the ventilation system, even those with mild symptoms of containment may need to be transferred.

The first people to spread the virus on this ward are still dead.

[Eun-Kyung Chung / Head of Disease Control Division: Patients who are out or those who have been outpatients, volunteers, funerals, etc .. .]

The health authorities say they are looking for primary infected people at Qingdao Daenam Hospital and Shincheonji Daegu Church, but they need more time because they are extensive.
