• Review.Other very good gaming laptop below 1,000 euros
  • MSI.This costs just over 1,000, but little more

Gaming computers, like it or not, are expensive. A durable and powerful equipment requires an investment. That is why I am very happy that the HP Pavilion Gaming 15 does not overcome the psychological barrier of 1,000 euros without falling short to play many current games.

It is not an OMEN , which is the brand that HP gaming computers usually go with. Do not ask me the reason why it is so, but the truth is that I do not care either: I almost prefer the discretion of this team. But this is my case: there is also OMEN well priced.

Be that as it may, with this team I can play Destiny 2, which I play a lot (WHO will classify it as a disease soon), and I can sit on the couch with a remote control connected by bluetooth to the laptop and play some games while my partner watches the TV and I give sacrilegious use to our coffee table with hinges to raise it a height. We don't eat in her, but I play in her, ironically.

Destiny 2 works scary: with everything on high and holding 60 frames per second , which for me is the minimum to play on PC. Perhaps it under some of the most demanding features to avoid possible downturns, but the Nvidia GTX 1660 Max-Q that it carries is very good for the 1,000 euros it costs.

It is not the best graphic of the company right now, because there are laptops with RTX 2070 Max-Q that offer more power, but its price is prohibitive and not everyone can afford it or even need it.

It also has 8GB of RAM, 256GB of main SSD hard drive, 1TB of secondary hard drive and a ninth-generation Intel i5 processor , components that are more than enough to play most current games without having a hard time because they are going to look bad or have pulls Maybe 16GB would have been better, but since you can easily open and add another RAM module if I need it, I don't complain much.

It is not the only point where this computer falls short, but this is a good thing. I insist, it is. You do not have Windows Hello or a fingerprint reader to login, you have to enter your password to access Windows, as if this were prehistory. No colored lights under the keyboard: white and period. No exaggerated design detail, except for the sound: the speaker perforations are striking and powerful and under the brand 'Bang & Olufsen', which a gamer will give quite the same.

Its design, except that the screen has a slightly fragile and small hinge, is well finished and is simple . At least, it has good ventilation, which makes it possible to play without the fans looking like turbines of an airplane (something common to any gaming computer) and it is not too heavy or too large equipment despite having a 15-inch panel.

The screen is IPS with good colors, which is appreciated if suddenly, instead of killing Martians playing, you have to use its power to edit a video . You can do it quite decently unless you get into titanic projects. Riding a review of a gaming laptop? It could be perfectly.

But here we are to talk about playing. What have I played? For example, The Witcher 3 with almost everything up and at 60fps. Metro Exodus, with everything in between, at 60fps as well. And so with another handful of modern games. If you put Dark Souls III, you can do so without having to download anything. GTA V hits some pull and Red Dead Redemption 2 does not work well even in teams twice as powerful, but I think you get the idea.

I would never ask a laptop to perform as a desktop because, for many competent components I had, I could never refrigerate with enough efficiency to put them at full capacity. But everything that can approach this point, the better. This laptop holds its maximum power quota very well and the game is not going to suffer lows, unless it gives you to play with the battery.

You can imagine that its hours of use are minimal if you play something without having it plugged in. You can do it, but you may not be able to spend two hours doing it, much less using full force. Maybe with some indie game. At least, the source and the cable with which it is charged has an acceptable size and does not weigh as much as the laptop, which is common.

So, do I recommend this computer? Sure . If you want a gaming laptop, it has plenty of power without going over the price or of 'pijaditas' that raise the price and which are not always used. There are better ones, there are worse ones, but this one is at a sweet point of performance and price that I like very much.

If you play on the console and want to make the leap to the PC, perhaps it is better to do it to a desktop computer if you have space to put it, because for 1,000 euros there are better teams and they will last you more years at full capacity, not counting that you can Change parts very easily and extend your life. And if you don't want to leave the consoles, nothing happens, playing in that format also has its advantages and disadvantages, like doing it on the computer.

As a gaming laptop that can also serve you to edit some video or use demanding programs, such as engineering or architecture, the HP Pavilion Gaming 15 is fantastic .
