Customers of smartphone manufacturer OnePlus received an email on Friday in which the company reports that someone may have had access to their data. OnePlus writes that the leak is currently being investigated.

According to OnePlus, an external party has had access to customer data. Passwords and payment details are not leaked according to OnePlus, but names, e-mail addresses and telephone numbers are. Therefore, the company warns customers that malicious parties may use this data to access them.

The data breach is confirmed on the OnePlus forum and customers can ask questions about the leak. It is not known how many customers are involved and who has received the data. NU.nl has asked OnePlus for a response.

It is not the first time that OnePlus has been hacked. At the start of 2018, it was announced that the credit card details of 40,000 customers had been captured. The data was then stolen with a script that could save payment data from the browser.
