The automaker Tesla also wants to compete in vehicles with delivery area. However, the production of the futuristic cybertruck should not begin until the end of 2022.

The car manufacturer Tesla has for the first time introduced a battery-powered flatbed truck. The Cybertruck has an unusual triangular shape, which is more reminiscent of a stealth fighter jet than a classic pickup. The vehicle is said to be priced at just under 40,000 (about 36,000 euros) dollars, said Tesla CEO Elon Musk. According to the automaker, it should be able to transport up to 1.7 tonnes of weight in the back of the truck.

In the top version, the pickup in 2.9 seconds from 0 to 60 miles per hour (almost 100 km / h) accelerate, Tesla said. In a video, the company showed how the pickup accelerates faster than a Porsche 911. The standard version accelerate from the state in 6.5 seconds to 60 miles per hour and have a battery charge with a range of over 400 kilometers.

The body is made of extra hard stainless steel, Musk said. To show how robust she is, Tesla chief designer Franz von Holzhausen hit the car door with a sledgehammer without leaving a visible dent. However, the demonstration of the strength of the windows went awry: the Tesla bullet cracked when Holzhausen shot it with a nine-millimeter pistol.

With the new model Tesla wants to compete even more strongly with the traditional car manufacturers. At the same time, it will take years for the Tesla pickup to hit the market. The production of the higher-quality model with three engines is scheduled to begin in late 2022, it said.

Tesla usually sells at the start only the more expensive versions of a vehicle to finance faster start-up costs. Tesla is already accepting reservations for the pickup, this time only 100 euros have to be deposited instead of the usual 1,000 euros.
