• Mobility: The INE follows in the footsteps of all Spaniards through their mobiles from today until Thursday
  • Study: The INE will track the mobiles of the Spaniards for eight days to study citizen movements

The first phase of the 'tracking' that will be carried out by the INE of the Spanish mobiles will take place between November 18 and 21 . The agency will use these data to conduct a study with anonymous information that will collect the position of the numbers, but not the headlines. You will work with the three main operators (Movistar, Vodafone and Orange), although there are ways to prevent you from obtaining our data.

Those who have it easier - without counting the users of Digi, Lebara, LlamaYa, MásMóvil, Pepephone and Yoigo, who do not participate in the study - are the customers of Vodafone (and Lowi, which belongs to this company), since they They can unsubscribe from the study directly from the application.

To do so they must enter My account and once there in Permissions and preferences, where it is possible to select the option 'I do not accept that Vodafone cedes anonymized data'. In the case of Lowi the process is similar, but the option is in 'Permissions and preferences', which is accessed from My Lowi, Settings and then Notifications.

For their part, those who use Orange may already be late for the first part of the study, because they must inform the company that they do not want to be part of the study. They can do it by regular mail (with the reference 'data protection') or by email (to the address orangeproteccion.datos@orange.com).

What if I am a Movistar customer? In this case, unfortunately, there is no simple way not to participate in the study, since the operator does not offer this option. However, you can make a more drastic decision, activate the airplane mode and deactivate the data during the days of the study.

At the moment it is not known if the company will provide an alternative for the next phase of the study, although it seems complicated, since it will also be this week: Sunday, November 24. The next days chosen by the INE are December 25, July 20 and August 15.
