The Yelmo Luxury Palafox Cinema offers a different and comfortable dining experience in a renovated and central space
Going to the movies is an experience that allows us to forget about problems and immerse ourselves in a story that, in many cases, gets us excited. Although, sometimes, it is not always easy to get fully into the film for small details. But, recently, a central cinema in Madrid tries to change the concept of going to see a premiere film to add an extra incentive to those who want to take advantage and live a time of "accessible luxury and for all."
The novelty presented by the Yelmo Luxury Palafox Cinema (Luchana, 15) is that the spectator who goes to one of its 7 rooms has the possibility to enjoy a feature film and, in addition, have lunch, snack or dinner (and even have a drink) sitting comfortably in an armchair. In addition, you can be attended by a waiter who will bring to your site what you have requested. And all, with tickets whose prices range from 10.90 euros to 16.90 euros , depending on the day and time chosen, with sessions that begin at 12h on weekends and at 13.30 hours daily.
"What we propose in this space is a concept that unites cinema with restoration, " says Javier Saura, head of marketing at Yelmo Cines. "In Mexico, this type of cinemas has been operating with very good results for a decade and what we have intended in this case is to adapt it to the needs of the Spanish public. In addition, in a very central place in Madrid."
This space, which opened its doors on September 23 in the same place where the historic Palafox cinema was located, shows modernity from the same entrance. In the hall, in addition to several tables and chairs, there is a bar that offers drinks and snacks and in which the spectator can order the food and drink that will later be consumed inside the room. The menus, with prices starting at 15.90 euros, include a varied offer in which mini-hamburgers, sushi trays, nachos, sandwich club, crepes, waffles, crepes, pizzas or tacos de cochinita pibil stand out. As for drinks, in addition to soft drinks, water, beers and wines, the combination menu includes flavored gin and tonics, Berry vodka or a refreshing ronjito.
Once confirmed what you are going to take (there is also the possibility of ordering food and drinks from the Yelmo app) in the hall, the customer enters a bright space, dominated by white, black and gold, which is decorated with screens in which films are advertised or coming soon and that houses several halls that allow access to 7 rooms located on different levels.
"Once inside the room, the client is served in his own chair by the waiters during the first 15 minutes of projection, either with what he has requested in the app or at the entrance or with the help of a button call installed in the chair itself that makes the waiters go to your site without disturbing anyone in the room, "said the head of marketing, who also emphasizes that the seats have all kinds of comforts for the experience to be complete. Once the projection has begun, the client can go to any of the points of sale (bar or automatic kiosks) located outside the rooms.
Each of the 7 rooms of this cinema has an average of 50 seats, all of them paired and with a small lamp that remains illuminated before the screening and that goes out before the film begins. Feature films, by the way, that can be viewed in original or folded version from very comfortable seats that allow viewing the screen in perfect condition from all positions. So much so that, as Saura explains, "it is the same or better than if you were in the living room of your house. And there are not even missing details such as a USB connector so you can charge the mobile battery while watching the movie.
