The first part of the Seoul High Criminal Detective opened the first trial day for the repatriation trial of Samsung Electronics Vice Chairman Lee Jae-yong from 10:10 am today.

Mr. Lee was in court about 40 minutes before the trial.

It's been 627 days since the appellate sentence last February.

In today's trial, Lee's lawyers said, "We respect the Supreme Court's judgment."

The Special Prosecutor's Office said, "The core of this case is whether we have made unfair requests to former President Park Geun-hye for Samsung's succession work."

The Tribunal decided to hold a two-day deadline to divide the vice chairman's guilt and sentence.

The Tribunal has also exceptionally communicated his wishes to the Vice-President.

The court said, “We need a strong compliance system to prevent the same crimes inside Samsung Group, and Samsung should contribute to fixing the damage of the chaebol group.”

In particular, the tribunal added to the vice chairman, "We have to do what we can and can do as the head of the enterprise, while being tried."
