Samsung announces a new phone this week. The Samsung Galaxy Note 10 will be present on Wednesday, but the truth is that much is already known about it, from its final design to its colors, also going through what could have been the biggest surprise of all.

For the first time, Samsung will launch two versions of the Note range phone. We are not sure what each one will be called, but one of the two Galaxy Note 10 will be somewhat smaller than normal while the other will maintain one of the keys of its identity: the immense size of the screen.

Note 10: two sizes, four versions

We talked about a 6.1-inch screen in 18: 9 format versus a 6.8-inch screen in that same format. Without a doubt, the Note 10 'Plus' will be the biggest mobile ever made by Samsung.

This difference does not imply that the other fundamental point of the Note's identity will be eliminated: both phones will have the S-Pen, the stylus that is used to write by hand on the phone and that is usually very successful in the public more professional.

The most curious of all this is that these two versions of the phone, the small and the large, will have two versions: one with LTE connectivity and the other with 5G capabilities. Thus, the market will receive two pairs of Note 10 differentiated, on the one hand, by size and, on the other, for having or not having 5G.

Power to spare

All phones will have the same processor, a Snapdragon 855, but the rest of the technical specifications will vary depending on whether the version is large or small. The latter seems to be that it will have a 3,500mAh battery, 8GB of RAM and 256GB of storage at minimum, as well as wireless charging capacity at 12W.

As for the older brother, the Note 10 Plus will feature a huge 4,300 mAh battery, 20W wireless charging, up to 45W charging using cable, 12GB of RAM and 256GB of storage, at a minimum.

None will have an expansion slot for microSD cards or a traditional headphone jack, the first time Samsung dispenses with both of them on the same device and the first time one of the high-end loses them.

If you do not understand figures, all this can be summed up in that the Galaxy Note 10 Plus will be the most powerful phone in the Android landscape until a few months later, when Huawei presents its Mate 30 and OnePlus announces the improved version of its OnePlus 7 Pro, if they finally do.

What happens to the cameras?

Although Samsung phones have enviable features and are increasingly improving their software, they have been behind for a couple of years in terms of photography. Their cameras are good and they are in the Top 5, but rather pulling down.

It is not clear what they are going to do about it with the Note 10 in this regard, since most improvements today in mobile photography have to do with how the image is processed. With software rather than hardware.

It is very likely that Samsung reuses the Galaxy S10 sensor in Note 10 and that it introduces some functionality improvements through the software.

What is not going to inherit from its predecessor is the double front camera: the Note 10, whatever the model, will only have a lens for selfies, unlike the Galaxy S10, which in its Plus version had a lens for measure distance and another for photos.

Anything else?

The Galaxy Note 10 will release pretty bold colors. Although no one forgives the black, it can be achieved in red / coral and also in a changing color that, in the photo, may appear white but which, depending on the light it reflects, will change at all times. Pretty cool.

It remains to be seen if Samsung will announce a new accessory, such as new headphones; if it will also announce other devices, such as a new tablet; or if they teach something related to the Samsung Galaxy Fold, the phone that doubles.

The latter will supposedly go on sale again very soon because they have solved their problems, so they may take advantage of the situation to rescue it.

The presentation event of the Samsung Galaxy Note 10 will take place on Wednesday at 10:00 p.m. from Peninsular Spain, which is 9:00 p.m. in the Canary Islands or 3:00 p.m. in Mexico.
