MST hospital in Enschede had a major ICT failure on Friday. All computer systems were offline and the hospital temporarily suspended all operations, confirms a spokesman.

The fault started Friday morning. According to a spokesman it was "a hitch of our infrastructure", in which the backup systems did not work properly. Meanwhile, the malfunction has been solved, report the spokesperson.

The malfunction affected all systems of the hospital. As a result, the hospital was not available by telephone and doctors and nurses could not access patient files.

The hospital had suspended all operations on Friday morning. "We look over the day to see if we can resume it", the spokesman said. In addition, the hospital called on patients not to come to the outpatient clinic for the time being.

The spokeswoman could not report how many deferred operations it is. However, she emphasized that patient safety has not been compromised. The issue is "very annoying" for the people who expected surgery.
