The Korea Traffic Safety Corporation (KSA) released the test report on the cause of BMW fire on July 7. The exhaust gas is diverging from the perforations of the intake system. The company said that the BMW fire was not an 'EGR bypass' problem but an 'EGR valve' problem.
The flames generated by the exhaust gas supply at a high temperature settled in the intake system and changed into flame as the intake air was supplied. Sparks in the intake system triggered perforation and scattered smoke from the perforations into the engine room.
The flame generating parts (EGR cooler and intake manifold) were removed and perforation occurred in the joint part.
Flame-generating parts (EGR cooler and intake manifold) are stripped and flame particles are piled up in the joint.
