The replacement weakened German tennis team has lost in the first round of the Fed Cup against Belarus 0: 4 and missed the entry into the semifinals. Instead, the descent from the world group threatens.

Laura Siegemund lost as before Andrea Petkovic and Tatjana Maria their individual. Angelique Kerber and Julia Görges had not been in the squad. Both start on Monday at the WTA tournament in Doha.

Siegemund lost 1: 6, 1: 6 to Braunschweig against Belarussian top ten player Aryna Sabalenka (ninth in the world rankings). Siegemund had been short-term nominated for Maria, who had lost to the opening against Alexandra Sasnowitsch 6: 7 (3: 7), 3: 6.

Sabalenka had already beaten Pektovic 6: 2, 6: 1 before beating Siegemund. The Belarusians won in the concluding insignificant double: Victoria Azarenka and Lidzya Marozava defeated Mona Barthel and Anna-Lena Grönefeld 6: 1, 0: 6, 11: 9.
