Bayern München has been awarded the 1st FC Heidenheim for the quarter-finals in the DFB Cup. Against the outsider from the 2nd Bundesliga, the cup-record winner has a home game. Werder Bremen, who won against Borussia Dortmund in the second round, have to travel to the Ruhr area again - and meet Schalke 04.
In another duel between two Bundesliga sides, FC Augsburg, who narrowly prevailed second division Holstein Kiel in the last eight, will receive RB Leipzig.
In the duel of the second division Hamburger SV has to travel to SC Paderborn. The game had led to a betting scandal almost 15 years ago. The then referee Robert Hoyzer had whistled in the match two questionable penalty for Paderborn - who could reach by a 4-2 the next round. At that time played Paderborn still in the regional league, the Hamburger SV in the Bundesliga.
