Werder Bremen has just been able to avert the fourth Bundesliga defeat in a row. The team of coach Florian Kohfeldt scored at SC Freiburg 1: 1 (0: 1), with the equalizer hit by Bremer Ludwig Augustinsson in minute 90 + 2 fell. Luca Waldschmidt had previously scored for SC (42. Minute / Handelfmeter).

In the table Bremen (18 points) lost the connection to the Champions League ranks, the distance to fourth place is four points. Freiburg improved to eleventh place.

In an open first half both teams came to numerous finals. The more dangerous opportunities, however, belonged to Bremen. Martin Harnik could have brought the visitors into the lead after he benefited from a failed ball acceptance by SC goalkeeper Alexander Schwolow - but the Werder striker failed from close range on the keeper (21). Almost negligently Davy Klaassen missed a header from a few meters from the goal (33 '). Harnik (31., 37.) and Klaassen (45. + 1) missed further Bremen chances before the break.

Waldschmidt strong, Pavlenka brilliant

Since it was already 1: 0 for Freiburg. Bremen defensive boss Niklas Moisander blocked a shot of the strong Waldschmidt with his arm, after using the video evidence, there was a penalty. Waldschmidt kicked himself - and shot the ball into the right angle.

The lead was not quite undeserved, especially in the initial phase, the hosts had some degrees from a distance. And after the break, Freiburg almost increased to 2: 0. But Waldschmidt did not hit the ball free-standing to keep Werder goalkeeper Jiri Pavlenka (49.), and a little later the keeper prevented Jerôme Gondorf (59.) with an outstanding parry.

The Bremen were in the second half, although the more active team, but remained harmless than before the break. Freiburg, however, acted against increasingly weaker Bremer attacks dangerous, but played his counterattack not efficient. Among other things, Lucas Höler failed on the post (87th), and that should take revenge.

In the first minute of injury time Theodor Gebre Selassie missed the 1: 1, shortly after left-back Augustinsson was on the spot and secured Bremen the point.
