Sofia Goggia has won the descent in Crans-Montana, Switzerland. The Italian, who won the silver medal in the Super G at the World Championships in Åre, prevailed in 1: 29.77 minutes ahead of the Swiss Joana Hählen (+0.36 seconds) and Lara Gut-Behrami (+0.46) ,

First, the Austrian and leader of the downhill overall ranking Nicole Schmidhofer was in third place. Due to problems with timing, the times were unofficial until late noon.

The downhill started with a startling moment when downhill world champion Ilka Stuhec landed as the first starter after a fall following a jump in the safety fences. The race had been interrupted, Stuhec was able to finish on skis a little later, but had to go to hospital for knee problems because of knee problems.

It should not be the only interruption in Crans-Montana. The Frenchwoman Tiffany Gauthier crashed and had to be transported away.

Swiss watches did not stop

The organizers had problems with the time taken, which did not stop with four Swiss runners at the finish line. Affected were, among other things, the second placed Hählen, as a video clip of the SRF shows, as well as good Behrami. The causes have not yet been found, it said in the ARD, possibly it is because of the photoelectric sensor.

"It was very funny, I was confused, I was looking for the time and not found," says Hählen after the run in the SRF. "That was not optimal," said winner Goggia to the delays, but said at the same time: "It's nice to be back in first place." Goggia had made a comeback after a long injury break in January.

The German ski racers have clearly missed the front places. Kira Weidle drove her current rank with 14 her worst downhill result in this World Cup season. Patrizia Dorsch finished 28th, Michaela Wenig 31st.
