On the 9th day of the Senbatsu High School Baseball Tournament, Hotoku Gakuen from Hyogo defeated Osaka Toin High School 4-1 in the fourth game of the quarterfinals, advancing to the top four for the second year in a row following their runner-up finish last year.

In the first inning, Hotoku Gakuen created a chance to load the bases with no outs by selecting two walks from Osaka Toin's ace pitcher, Keitomo Hirashima, and took the lead by one point with a timely hit to the left field by No. 4 Yusei Saito. He then added another point during an infield grounder.

Starting pitcher Hiroki Asamaru, uniform number 10, pitched well with a mid-140 km fastball and a sharply falling fork ball, keeping Osaka Toin's strong batting lineup from scoring until the seventh inning, and scored one run in the eighth inning. They lost the game and fell behind by one point, 2-1, but the batting line took advantage of that and added two more points to extend the lead.

Asamaru pitcher held down three players in the 9th inning, and Hotoku Gakuen defeated Osaka Toin 4-1, advancing to the top four for the second consecutive year following last year's runner-up finish.

For Osaka Toin, the second pitcher from Nanyo, who was relieved from the 5th inning, kept the team scoreless for 3 innings to get things going, and in the 8th inning, the second pitcher, Shōki Yoshida, got one point back with a timely hit. However, a defensive mistake coincided with that, and they were let go once again.
