The probable line-ups of Egypt - DR Congo

Egypt

: Sobhi - Hamdy, Monem, Hegazy, Kamal - Fathi, Elneny - Ashour, Trezeguet, Marmoush - Mohamed

DR Congo

: Mpasi - Masuaku, Baka, Mbemba, Kalulu - Moutoussamy - Wissa, Pickel, Kakuta, Bongonda - Bakambu

The Pharaohs, finalists of the CAN 2021, present themselves diminished for this round of 16 against the DR Congo. Their star player Mohamed Salah cannot perform at his best before the semi-finals - his club Liverpool even estimates the recovery time longer. Goalkeeper Mohamed El Shenawy is out for the remainder of the competition.

During the group stages, Egypt drew three matches in three contested matches: against Mozambique (2-2), against Ghana (2-2) and against Cape Verde (2-2).

Chancel Mbemba's DR Congo is, for its part, a team in full reconstruction but whose physical power impresses.

Like the Egyptians, the Leopards have had three draws in previous CAN 2024 matches: against Zambia (1-1), against Morocco (1-1) and against Tanzania (0-0).
