In the snowboarding and women's slopestyle event at the Gangwon Youth Olympics, 16-year-old Yusuke Murase advanced to the finals after passing the preliminaries first, and despite making some mistakes, she skated aggressively and finished in 5th place.

Slopestyle snowboarding is an event in which runners perform tricks by sliding down a 500 meter long course with obstacles such as rails and jumps, and compete to see how difficult and perfect they are.

From Japan, Yoshiki Murase, who is the younger sister of Kokoro Murase, who represented the Beijing Olympics in this event and has won the World Junior Championship, and 17-year-old Himeaki Morii participated.

Among them, Murase was the only player with a high score in the 90s in the preliminaries, and advanced to the finals, where 10 people competed.

In the final, where players skate three times and compete for ranking based on the highest score, Murase failed to land on the last air on the first attempt, lost his balance on the early rail in the second attempt, and was unable to increase his points, finishing the second attempt. He was in 9th place at the time.

In the third and final run, where she aimed to turn things around, she skated with speed, making no mistakes with techniques such as a one-and-a-half rotation from a reverse stance and a double rotation from a high air, marking a score of 79.25. I came in 5th place.

The gold medal went to an Austrian athlete with a score of 89.00, while Morii made a series of mistakes in the qualifying round and finished 17th, failing to advance to the finals.

On the other hand, 16-year-old Kisubu Sugawara, who competed in the women's ski freestyle slopestyle event, placed 12th in the preliminary round and did not advance to the finals.

Yusuke Murase “If I had scored the first time, I could have attacked more”

Yusuke Murase expressed his frustration, saying, ``The fact that we couldn't score from the first time led to the lack of results. If we had scored in the first, we could have attacked more in the second and third.'' I showed it.

Still, regarding his third run in which he was unable to leave anything behind, he said, ``I had fallen both times, so I thought, ``I have no choice but to do it,'' and on the other hand, I was able to get my spirits up in a good way. I think the fact that we were able to rebuild properly will lead us in a positive direction,'' he said, looking forward.

Looking ahead to the Women's Big Air, where qualifying will be held on January 27th, she vowed to bounce back, saying, ``This result is quite disappointing, so I want to use this as a springboard to do my best.''
