South Africa clinched qualification for the Africa Cup final after a goalless draw with Tunisia (French)
Tunisia was eliminated from the African Cup of Nations in the group stage after a 0-0 draw with South Africa, which reached the round of sixteen, along with Mali and Namibia, after they also tied with the same score at the conclusion of the fifth group matches on Wednesday.
Tunisia was at the bottom of the group with two points, while Mali was at the top with 5 points, one point ahead of South Africa, second in the standings, and Namibia, which ranked third on goal difference.
The Tunisian attack lacked accuracy and its attempts to score goalkeeper Ronwen Williams failed.
Tunisian player Elias Skhiri fired a shot from the edge of the penalty area, wide of the goal, early.
Substitute Haitham Al-Jouini almost scored the winning goal for Tunisia one minute before the end, but his header attempt went over the crossbar.
Tunisia exited the tournament in the group stage for the first time since 2013.
