Today's poster:

The Eagles of Carthage, a victory or nothing:

who would have bet that Tunisia would be last in their group before the final sprint?

The Carthage Eagles will have to defeat South Africa and hope Mali does the job against Namibia to qualify directly.

Today's report: "Senegal rek!"

A colorful yellow, red and green costume, a hat representing Senegal in miniature, two large lion heads and a war cry that has become the rallying point of the African champion team in 2022... France 24 presents Paco, one of very recognizable supporters of the Lions of Teranga at CAN 2024.

What happened yesterday

History Mauritania, here is the exit for Algeria:

Mauritania beat Algeria (1-0) in their last match in Group D, eliminating the Fennecs from the competition.

Two years after the CAN in Cameroon, Djamel Belmadi and his men are still going out through the back door.

They have not won a match in an African Cup of Nations since their victory in the final against Senegal in 2019.

The Indomitable Lions roared at the right time:

3 goals scored after the 85th minute and another refused... The final match of Group C between Cameroon and Gambia resulted in a crazy scenario (3-2).

And in the end, it was the Indomitable Lions who qualified for the round of 16, even snatching 2nd place in the group from Guinea thanks to the number of goals scored.

In short

Bad luck accumulates for Egypt:

after Mohamed Salah, the Pharaohs lost their goalkeeper Mohamed El Shenawy, who was released at the end of the match against Cape Verde.

He suffered a dislocated shoulder and returned for treatment at his club Al-Ahly, in Egypt.

The Pharaohs have therefore lost two of the key elements of their 2022 final.

Amir Abdou, miracle worker:

Oops, he says it again!

The Mauritania coach led his team to a first victory at the African Cup of Nations, as well as their first qualification in the round of 16.

Two years ago in Cameroon, he did the same thing with the Comoros.

What is his secret?

Tom Saintfiet says goodbye to Gambia:

"It was my last match as coach of Gambia", announced the Belgian coach after the defeat against Cameroon, synonymous with elimination for the Scorpions.

“I will always be the smiling coach of Gambia, this is the best period of my career,” insisted the man who took them to the quarter-finals in 2022 for their very first participation.
