Japan's women's hockey team defeated India 1-0 in the third-place match of the final qualifying round for the Paris Olympics, clinching their sixth consecutive Olympic appearance.

Eight countries participated in the final qualifying round for the women's hockey Olympics held in India, with the top three qualifying for the Paris Games.



On the 19th, Japan, nicknamed "Sakura Japan" and ranked 11th in the world, played against India, ranked 6th in the world, in the third place deciding match for the remaining spot.



Japan aggressively attacked from the first quarter and took the lead with defender Kana Urata scoring a goal from a penalty corner just six minutes into the game.



After this, India continued to attack, but goalkeeper Eika Nakamura defended the team, and they did not score until the final fourth quarter.



Japan defeated India 1-0, placed third in the final qualifying round, and qualified for their sixth consecutive Olympic Games.



On the other hand, the Japanese men's national team was unable to place in the top three in the final qualifying round held in Spain, missing out on their second consecutive Olympic appearance.
