The Cape Verde national team secured the top spot in Group Two before the third round by reaching 6 points from two victories over third-placed Ghana and bottom-placed Mozambique, with a difference of 4 points from second-placed Egypt.
Pepe opened the scoring for Cape Verde in the 32nd minute with a shot from a long distance from a free kick that Mozambique goalkeeper Ernan made a mistake in clearing, hitting his hand and into the net.
Ryan Mendes doubled the lead 6 minutes after the start of the second half, taking advantage of defender Edmilson's mistake in receiving the ball to go one-on-one and shoot into the net.
Kevin Pena concluded Cape Verde's goals in the 69th minute with a powerful shot from a long distance that reached the far right corner of the Mozambican goalkeeper.

The Cape Verde national team will conclude its matches in the group stage by facing Egypt next Monday.
