By opening the score from the start then resisting at 10 during a half, Guinea performed well on Monday in Group C of the African Cup by snatching a draw against Cameroon (1-1).

The coach of Guinea, Kaba Diawara, and that of Gambia, Tom Saintfiet, are old acquaintances.

The “Belgian Druid” was the Guinean’s coach in Qatar 20 years earlier and already beat him at the previous CAN.

In 2022, Saintfiet's Gambia surprised the national Syli (1-0) in the round of 16 of the African Cup, in which the Scorpions participated for the first time.

"He did me a blow by fighting, we're friends until the referee blows the [kick-off] whistle, and then the best guy wins. After the match, we can always call each other, send each other messages", declared the Guinean coach with a smile at a press conference.

If Guinea wins, the latter would already have one foot in the round of 16.

With four points, it is very likely that she will qualify, at least as one of the four best third-placed teams in this group stage.
