Despite the two goals from Eriksson-Ek, it was not the Swede who made the headlines afterwards. Instead, it was goalkeeper Marc-André Fleury who wrote himself into the record books.

Fleury is now second among the most victorious NHL goaltenders after his 552nd victory.

The Canadian passed his childhood idol Patrick Roy.

"Finally, right? It's been a bit hard lately, I wish I had done this a little earlier. But as everyone knows, we do our best to win games and tonight we played a good game against a good team," Fleury said after the game, according to nhl.com.

Martin Brodeur has the most wins among NHL goaltenders (691), but his record for wins is not something Fleury is aiming for.

"Then I'll have to keep going for another 15 years," says the 39-year-old.

Joel Eriksson-Ek praised the goalkeeper.

"To be second on that list is absolutely fantastic. It feels incredibly cool to be part of such a thing. It's historic. No one will ever pass him, says Eriksson-Ek to Aftonbladet.

None of the current NHL goaltenders are likely to overtake Fleury in any case. The closest is Jonathan Quick, New York Rangers, at 384.
